Something about Gallio

Gallio has expanded greatly in the last few years as no other village on the highland, and because of this, has become a renowned holiday's station both in summer and in winter-time. Risen and grown next to the imposing majesty of the "Melette", Gallio is historically known as a very busy centre of arts, crafts, commercial and manufacture activities, also facilitated for the obliged crossing through Val Frenzela, the only traffic and communication way with the Pianura Veneta for centuries. About the sport Gallio offers several opportunities one of these is the imposing ski-jump rises in the Pakstall Valley as a symbol of the great personality of this centre, whose history boasts a long series of champions for the disciplines on snow and ice. The possibilities of living sport in Gallio are countless, it holds the best long-distance tracks of the European territory. The "Centro fondo Gallio" of Campomulo is one of the first centres for cross country ski born in italy, and manages rings of different lenghts and difficulties (more than 150 km) that make of Campomulo the heaven of long distance-ski. There is also the natural iced-track of Busa Fonda, where even international events of speed skating, speedway on ice and cars on ice, are played. Particularly suggestive is the "Santuario della Madonna del Buso", erected around 1830, destroyed during the World War, then rebuilt, it is today a destination for many believers, especially on two dates: 26th of May and 26th of July.
